Teaching Today has established a variety of links to websites that may be of interest to educators and administrators. As we come across new links, they will be added. So, be sure to check back regularly for updates. GENERAL EDUCATION

Education World The goal of Education World is to make the internet easier for teachers to use. It includes a search engine, lesson plans, employment listings, and more.

Sitesforteachers.com has a search engine for teachers. It contains only links to sites that contain teachers resources and educational materials.

The NetSmartz Workshop contains many online games and activities, with a focus on internet safety.

The Busy Teacher’s Website provides teachers with direct resource materials, lesson plans and classroom activities. They aim to provide an "enjoyable and rewarding experience for the teacher who is learning to use the internet."

Ask ERIC, the Educational Resources Information Center (ERIC), is a federally-funded national information system that provides education information to teachers, librarians, counselors, administrators and parents.

EduHound.com is an education directory for teachers, students and parents. The website enables educators to implement the internet into their classrooms.

TeachersFirst provides original content and reviews of thousands of web resources for K-12 teachers.

Teachers And Families provides teacher-recommended resource material, grouped by subject and grade level.

Disney Teacher Center is a creative collection of lessons and web resources for teachers. The site offers free online workshops and chat rooms to connect to other educators.

KidsGardening.com is an interactive hub where teachers, parents, and others who garden with youngsters find inspiration, advice, and networking opportunities.

GENERAL LESSON PLANS

Crayola.com offers arts and crafts projects, coloring books and activity pages for all seasons and events. The site also houses collections of kids’ artwork.

Learning Page offers hundreds of professionally produced instructional material to download and print. Lesson plans, books, worksheets and much more can be found on the site.

The EduMart Project Room contains lesson plans for an array of subject areas. The books the lesson plans are taken from can be purchased directly on the website.

The Lesson Plans Page contains hundreds of free K-12 lesson plans and suggested teacher magazines.

FunBrain.com has over 50 educational games and activities for K-8 students. Each game integrates fun into learning math, science, grammar and more.

EdHelper.com covers a variety of subjects with thousands of lesson plans, free worksheets, word and critical thinking problems and puzzles for Standardized Tests.

Alphabet Soup "is for the young and the young at heart.” This site contains fun activities, themes and games for young children.

Teachers.Net has an array of resource material for educators including lesson plans, chat rooms, web tools and education-related articles.

Ideas.wisconsin.edu provides a variety of lesson plans created by education professionals that help educators meet Wisconsin’s Model Academic Standards.

GRANTS AND SCHOLARSHIPS

The Heart of America Foundation offers many resources for schools including service projects, service manuals and professional speaking services. All of their projects aim to encourage children to help those in need.

The Foundation Center’s website is a resource for educators involved in the grant-seeking process

MATHEMATICS

The Math Forum helps students learn mathematics through the internet and new technologies. The site strives to prepare students for math in the "real world."

Math.com provides innovative ways for students, parents and teachers to learn math with the help of technology.

Coolmath’s mission is "to make math fun." The site has an online graphing calculator and helpful message boards for students to submit questions about algebra, geometry, trigonometry, statistics and calculus.

ENGLISH

Literacy Junction allows teachers to register their class into a "virtual school" that offers fun ways to learn and read on the internet.

The National Council of Teachers of English website is a valuable resource for english teachers, offering new developments in literacy, updates on conferences and conventions and information on new books and journals.

Web English Teacher provides English and language arts-related lesson plans, WebQuests, videos, jokes, puzzles and classroom activities.

The Writing Center is managed by English writing instructors and advanced doctoral students from UW-Madison. They offer a writer’s handbook for students of all writing levels.

Shakespeare and the Internet is a thorough guide to Shakespeare resources on internet. The site contains everything from his bibliography to his written works.

SCIENCE/ENVIRONMENTAL

The USGS Learning Web contains science-related resource material for teachers and students. The site focuses on earth and life science.

Science Junction is an interactive site, connecting researchers and teachers of science. The site is provided by North Carolina State University.

WFREA The Wis. Forest Resources Education Alliance (WFREA) has developed numerous forestry eduction curriculum correlated to state standards. The school forest handbook (available on our site) is the first manual ever established in Wis. to aid teachers in adapting their school forests into working outdoor classrooms.

Wisconsin Center for Environmental Education The WCEE assists in the development, dissemination, implementation and evaluation of environmental education programs focusing on elementary and secondary school teachers and students. The WCEE works to improve environmental education throughout the state of Wisconsin.

HISTORY

History Matters is designed for high school and college teachers of US History. They offer useful internet resources to actively involve students in analyzing historic events.

ART

ArtEdNet, “the Getty’s art education website,” has art lesson plans and advice for learning and teaching art. The site also has a database of thousands of images and artwork.

Eyes on Art offers teachers and students new ways to create and look at art. The site has many activities, art samples and art quizzes.

The @rt Room contains “activity” centers that encourage kids to create, to learn and to explore new ideas, places and things on their own.

National Gallery of Art features a variety of resources for the art teacher, including online collections and exhibitions.

MUSIC AND THE ARTS

K-12 Resources for Music Educators is a directory listing of valuable sites for music educators and students. The listings are arranged according to specific areas: band, choir, orchestra and classroom music.

National Association for Music Education is an arts education organization with nearly 100,000 members - music teachers, students, industry professionals and community advocates - whose mission is to advance music education by encouraging the study and making of music by all.

Musiceducator.org has a variety of instrumental links, music teacher resources and links to music-related organizations.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION AND HEALTH

The purpose of PE Central is to provide the latest physical education information about developmentally appropriate physical education programs including lesson plans and ready-to-print assessments.

The Food and Nutrition Information Center, in a collaboration with the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the Agricultural Research Service, provides information about food and human nutrition.

HealthTeacher.com provides a comprehensive, sequential K-12 health education curriculum that consists of almost 300 lesson guides that meet the National Health Education Standards.

LIBRARY

The Internet Library for Librarians is a “portal designed for librarians to locate internet resources related to their profession.”

The IPL is a public library of and for internet users. The IPL considers themselves an "experiment," studying the most effective methods for librarians to use the internet.

School Libraries on the Web is a helpful resource for school librarians. The site gives easy access to school libraries from all over the world.

School Library Journal Online gives librarians indispensable information needed to manage libraries, from creating high-quality collections to understanding how technology can assist (or hinder) learning.

FINANCIAL/BUSINESS

Teachers@Work is an innovative internet employment service that matches the professional staffing needs of schools with the appropriate teacher applicant. This online database allows schools to search resumes of current and prospective teachers nationwide.

The American Association of School Administrator’s website is a dynamic source of information about the association and topics of interest to school system leaders.

National Association of Elementary School Principals offers information about the national organization and upcoming events for principals in elementary and middle schools.

FundsnetServices.com provides nonprofit organizations and school systems with information on funding sources on the internet.
